Welcome Reception: Ice Breaker (for all participants)

All registered conference attendees are invited to participate. The reception takes place in the foyer of the ICM congress building- only steps away from the symposium registration desk. For public transportation to ICM, please use Metro U2 and leave at Stop "Messestadt-West".

The official reception takes place in BMW World in Munich. Enjoy the exciting world of BMW. Because of limited space inside the BMW World building, the maximum number of persons is set to 800. Please select in your online registration if you want to attend this event. For arrival by Use public transport use Metro U3 and leave at the "Olympia-Zentrum" stop. A bus service starting from ICM will also be organized. Busses will depart at 18:45 hours from ICM. Please select bus transportation in your online registration if you wish to use this service.

Young Professional's Lunch (up to 80 participants)

Tuesday, July 24, 12:10 - 13:30 hours, ICM Restaurant "Am See, Seeblick"

The event will be open to students and young professionals. The lunch will provide a forum of discussion between current students and GOLD members (Graduates of the Last Decade) on career paths, skill sets beneficial to secure employment in the geosciences and remote sensing industries, as well as professional development opportunities. The event will also include invited guests selected from among the GRSS professionals with extensive careers in the field. The nominal charge for this event is only partially covering the food costs. Only a limited number of tickets will be available, so please register early!

Bavarian Evening (up to 1500 participants)

Tuesday, July 24, from 19:30 hours,"Löwenbräukeller" in Munich City

IGARSS 2012 invites you to participate in a traditional Bavarian evening at the historical Löwenbräukeller. Your evening begins with a special greeting and an invitation to enjoy Bavarian culinary specialties, while being entertained with typical Bavarian music and performances. A Small registration fee per person will be required and includes one drink (up to one Liter) and a typical Bavarian meal. Please select in your online registration if you wish to attend this event. This location is well connected to public transport. The Metro U1 stops directly at "Stiglmaierplatz" and the central station (international and regional trains, public transport) is only one station away by metro, or is within walking distance (8 minutes). Additionally, a bus service starting from ICM will be organized. Busses will start at 18:45 hours from ICM. Please select bus transportation in your online registration if you wish to use this service. Please note, in case that the registration number for this event should exceed the maximum capacity of the Löwenbräukeller (1500) for the next up to 500 further registrations an alternative location will be found.

This event provides a venue for discussion of GRSS Technical Committee and Chapter activities accompanied by a fine meal. Members of GRSS Technical Committees and GRSS Chapter Chairs are especially invited, but all IGARSS delegates (and guests) are welcome to participate. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the technical committees and activities of our chapters. Tickets are limited, so please register early!

Soccer Game

Wednesday, July 25, from 18:00 hours

The 2012 international IGARSS soccer tournament will be held on Wednesday, July 25th. This event is a casual soccer tournament where IGARSS participants compete for the coveted title of "IGARSS soccer champions". Because of high interest, the game will be divided up into two concurrent matches run tournament style. The winner will be decided based on FIFA world cup rules. All skill levels are welcome to participate, or just watch and cheer on!

The venue will be at the sports field of SV Dornach, Feldkirchner Weg 50 in 85609 Dornach only 2.5 km from the ICM. The Sports field is equipped with changing rooms and bathrooms. Free bus transportation will be provided, leaving at 18:00 and 18:25. Please gather at the entrance of the ICM. Drinks are provided and we will have a barbeque in the evening. All registered participants will get a basic package of coupons for free on-site food. Additionally, the local soccer club SV Dornach will run a small kiosk selling low-priced drinks for viewers and participants who want more.

Women in Geosciences, Remote Sensing and Engineering Luncheon (up to 50 participants)

Thursday, July 26, 12:10 - 13:30 hours, ICM Restaurant "Am See, Seeblick"

The event will be open to all IGARSS attendees with an interest in making the geosciences, remote sensing, and engineering professions positive and inclusive for both genders. The lunch will provide networking opportunities and a forum of discussion for topics ranging from gender equity, recruiting and retaining of women in these fields, family work-life balance, professional development, and benefits of a diverse workforce. The event will also include invited guests/speakers selected from among the GRSS with extensive leadership supporting women and diversity in the fields of geosciences, remote sensing and engineering.

IGARSS 2012 Awards Banquet (up to 350 participants)

Thursday, July 26, 19:30 - 22:30 hours

This year's IGARSS awards evening will take place at the imperial ballroom "Kaisersaal" of the Residenz Palace in Munich. This formal banquet will be the highlight of the social calendar for IGARSS'12. At this event the GRSS Society awards will be presented. This location is well connected to public transport. Please take Metro U3/U6 or U4/U5 and leave at the"Odeonsplatz" stop. Additionally, a bus service starting from ICM will be organized. Busses will start at 18:45 hours from ICM. Please select bus transportation in your online registration if you wish to use this service. Tickets to this event are limited up to 350 and will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
